A recent survey showed that 80% of Americans aged 18-49 wish they had whiter teeth and that 6 out of 10 people believe that having whiter teeth would make them more confident*. That is just one of the reasons why we are so excited to be offering the revolutionary GLO Whitening technology as a way for our patients to achieve a brighter, whiter smile.
HOW DOES IT WORK? SCIENCE:
Patented GLO (Guided Light Optics) Technology combines optimal heat and light in a closed system mouthpiece which allows whitening molecules to penetrate the teeth quickly. The system activates and accelerates the whitening gel formula for safe superior results.
GLO was created by Dr. Jonathan B. Levine, is a renowned oral health expert, innovator, clinical researcher, and prosthodontist who has been in practice for over 30 years in New York City. It has been clinically tested, and has been awarded recognition by industry experts.
BUT I HAVE SENSITIVE TEETH…WILL IT HURT?
The GLO whitening gel is alcohol and carbamide peroxide free, which commonly causes sensitivity and drying of the gums. Additionally, GLO whitening uses patented delivery systems designed to keep the whitening gel from migrating onto the soft tissue, giving you great results with little to no sensitivity.
WHAT HAPPENS AT THE OFFICE?
Your GLO professional whitening session happens in our office, with a dentist. This session combines the power of GLO warming heat and light with a high concentration, professional strength whitening gel that can only be applied by a dental professional. You’ll be given a closed system mouth piece to lightly bite on while the specially formulated heat+light, under the direction of one of our trained dentists, works its magic!
HOW LONG WILL MY APPOINTMENT TAKE?
They’re super fast! Treatment lasts less than an hour and helps you achieve your brightest, whitest smile. The light and heat accelerates the reaction of the whitening gel, producing more whitening oxygens over a shorter period of time. This accelerated whitening keeps wear time short, creating less chance of any sensitivity.
DO I NEED SPECIAL TRAYS MADE FOR MY MOUTH?
Nope! The GLO system comes with a ready made closed system mouthpiece that fits all mouths. The mouthpiece is a closed system that combines heat-plus-light and prevents whitening oxygens from escaping the mouth, for faster, more efficient and longer lasting whitening results!
CAN MY TEEN USE GLO WHITENING?
Yes, GLO is completely safe for teens. That said, there are modified instructions for teens aged 13-16 and can’t be used in conjunction with certain orthodontics, so it’s important to consult a dentist who will know how to best treat your child.

At Chestnut Ridge Dentistry, we’re proud to offer the CEREC method of reconstructing tooth restorations. It’s a state-of-the art process that allows most patients to have their procedure done in just one visit! That means there’s no need to have a temporary restoration for in-between visits.
In addition, CEREC allows us to save as much natural tooth structure as possible. Restorations last longer (even over 10 years!) and teeth are restored to their natural aesthetic, function and strength.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1: After reviewing your options, one of our highly trained dentists will administer an anesthetic and prepare your tooth for restoration by removing decay and any weakened tooth tissue.
Step 2: A 3D digital impression is taken to create the restoration (without that gooey stuff). The computer and CEREC® 3D software then converts the digital image into a three-dimensional virtual model of the prepared tooth.
Step 3: Based on the original color of your tooth, we’re able to select the correct colored ceramic block and in a few minutes, the “milling device” is able to create the restoration needed.
Step 4: After the restoration is made, it is ready to be fitted to ensure that you get proper fit and bite. When everything is sorted out, the restoration is polished and bonded into place.
It’s that simple.
