At Chestnut Ridge Dentistry, we’re proud to offer the CEREC method of reconstructing tooth restorations. It’s a state-of-the-art process that allows most patients to have their procedure done in just one visit! That means there’s no need to have a temporary restoration for in-between visits.
In addition, CEREC allows us to save as much natural tooth structure as possible. Restorations last longer (even over 10 years!) and teeth are restored to their natural aesthetic, function, and strength.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1: After reviewing your options, one of our highly trained dentists will administer an anesthetic and prepare your tooth for restoration by removing decay and any weakened tooth tissue.
Step 2: A 3D digital impression is taken to create the restoration (without that gooey stuff). The computer and CEREC® 3D software then convert the digital image into a three-dimensional virtual model of the prepared tooth.
Step 3: Based on the original color of your tooth, we’re able to select the correct colored ceramic block and in a few minutes, the “milling device” is able to create the restoration needed.
Step 4: After the restoration is made, it is ready to be fitted to ensure that you get proper fit and bite. When everything is sorted out, the restoration is polished and bonded into place.
It’s that simple.
